RACIAL PROFILING??? GET REAL!!!

If you haven't heard this news story about the Harvard Professor, HERE is a link to read about it.

So now, it is reported, that some are going to accuse the cop of "racial profiling". OH PULEASE! The report was that two "Black" men were forcing the door open. So are we supposed to run around looking for white men? Are we supposed to run around looking for Hispanics? Are we supposed to run around looking for Japanese? Good grief. If the report is that the men are black, we would look for, yep you guessed it, BLACK men. It isn't racial profiling as in assuming all black men are robbers. It is taking the reported description and matching that description with who is at the house.

In the words of an news reporter(John Stossel to be exact), give me a break.

Luke, I read somewhere that President Obama weighed in on this and said the police were stupid for arresting the man in his home. If the charge had been for burglary, then I would agree, but in fact, it was for disorderly conduct (which seems reasonable no matter where you are, if police are legitimately present and involved in the situation).

Byron,

I heard about that just this morning.(I go to bed without watching the news.) Well, I guess since the "messiah" said it was stupid, it must be huh?!(snark)

I agree with what you said...to an extent. FOR if the man HAD already proven who he was and then the cops continued to press the idea and THEN he began to be upset, I'd have to say something stinks about the situation. But as it is being reported, the individual got all upset and disorderly BEFORE the events in question so I agree with your assessment. The guy should have been grateful that the police responded to PROTECT his home rather than giving them the third degree.

I wonder, considering who he is, if this was all a set-up to propel him into the lime-light? Just wondering.

Luke, I agree with your qualification beginning with the word "FOR." I do not think it is a set-up for the lime-light, so to speak, but I cannot help but think that the good professor is blinded by racial bias against Caucasians, given his general distrust ("Police say the 58-year-old Gates yelled at the officer, accused him of racial bias and refused to calm down after the officer demanded Gates show him identification to prove he lived in the home."). Sometimes the person making the accusation of racial bias is the one who's more guilty of it than the other.

Having said that, I am worried about America turning into a police state. I worry that if the economy was to nose-dive again, and crime and the drug war escalates, that authoritarianism would be the order of the day, perhaps even leading to martial law. However, that's just me listening to my darkly humored muse, I hope. See, I am not one of those optimistic Amillenial types at times.

Byron, in this particular case, I don't think your muse is off base. selahV

haha Byron, just trying to be one of us premil's eh?! But wouldn't the military state usher in the Millenium? I mean, are you afraid of the NWO? A ONE-world government? Ahh...that could never happen for the optimist...okay, okay, I'll stop all the flattery.:)

Unfortunately, the descent into the abyss you describe fits Premil rather well. I could wish you were wrong, but my study of the Word leads me to believe that this is exactly what is going to happen. Only when it does, a generation will either worship the false messiah or die.

But I still wish I had some harder stats to arrive at some more well-founded facts.

Mrs. V,
I agree too.

Well, I may not be orthodox Amillenial. I don't believe in a literal, 1000 year millenium, but I do believe in a millenium of sorts (which I believe we are in now, because I believe Jesus Christ is even now in His kingdom). But anyway, I tend to think that things will get worse (perhaps horrible) before Christ returns and wraps up all of history and redeems all of Creation (so I guess in that way I am more post-Trib I guess). John mentions many antichrists so I don't know if there will be a final Antichrist or not, but there are several evil people who hate Christ and could qualify as antichrists (lowercase).

Great reminder, SelahV. I don't know what the future holds, but I know God is in charge. And being in heaven will be much better than here. I just hope Christ returns in my lifetime.

Byron...sometimes, it's so easy to get caught up in what is tangible...the temporal and ignore the promises of God.
"The Lord is my Light and my Salvation--whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?" Ps. 27:1

I just love the Psalms. They continually remind me of His stronghold of refuge. More than anything, Christ's Spirit reminds me of our Savior's words, "Fear not, for I am with you, even to the end of the age."

My blood pressure drops 10 points with the Spirit's reminder. :) selahV
