Proverbs 17:14 The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention before it be meddled with.
What did you really hope to accomplish by throwing that rock at the wasp's nest? It would have been better had that question been asked BEFORE the rock left your hand. There is always a motive. But every motive does not always have as its end the goal of honoring Christ.

Very good thought. One that can keep you from sin. I have learned that even conversations that are Biblically based if not done with the right motive can dishonor God and leave you with a bitter taste.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with you about that observation. Maybe like being forced to eat a bowl of black-eyed peas.
But unfortunately, I tend to be one that wants to poke things, test things, try things and disturb things. What's my goal? What will be the response? Is the response worthy of my goal?
Luke, I'm beginning to think I'll never learn that lesson. Bite thou my tongue, and smack my fingers; please! selahV
V,
Keeping one's mouth shut at the appropriate times is a hard lesson to learn. Wisdom would indicate that it would be better having left something unsaid than to have to dry to mitigate the damage caused by such. On the other hand, we may fail in keeping our mouths shut too much in that we fail to speak up about situations that the Spirit is urging us to address.
But in this particular case, this verse addresses me because sometimes I like to or would like to get involved in the "fight" simply because it is a fight. In the end, it just isn't worth it and it does not honor my Lord worst of all.
Bite my tongue, slap my fingers, shield my eyes. I'm with you on that one.
Thanks for your fingerprints here.
Luke: Words worth quoting: "sometimes I like to or would like to get involved in the "fight" simply because it is a fight. In the end, it just isn't worth it and it does not honor my Lord worst of all."
so very very true. selahV
Speaking of wasp nests, be sure and check out todays comic(Feb 1st addition), "Wizard of Id". The only problem is someone has to load that buzzing bomb and in the words of Mater from "Cars", "He's gonna getcha!"
Excellent thoughts Luke.
Wish it had a big sign over it so we'd know which is a wasps nest though
Steve
Grosey,
Good thought that I wish I knew the answer to but this I do know. All active wasp nests have stingers. Even when doing what needs to be done, protecting the children for example, opens one up to being stung. And it must be a possibility that we are willing to endure. But messing with them just for the pure joy of messing with them may turn into pure pain.
