In Support of Honduras' New President

To the new Honduran President, some of us here in the United States SUPPORT you in your efforts to keep Socialism from controlling your country. Many of us here think it absolutely incredulous that President Obama has spoken against you. May I plainly state that he is only one man and has but one voice. He is NOT speaking for the entire population of our country. I urge you to continue to defend your nation's freedom from the tyranny of a dictator wanna-be. As our Nation celebrates Independence Day on July 4th, I pray that your country will remain independent from tyranny.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. For the most part, Luke, I agree with you. However, just because I don't agree with Manuel Zelaya's leftism does not by itself justify a military coup in light of Romans 13. However, there is probably more to the story, and I would like to hear it. Any time a politician who is unpopular wants to allegedly amend the law to stay in power beyond legal limits, that is a definite red flag in my book.

Hey Byron,
Thanks for speaking. But in light of Romans 13, it was exactly the government of the people holding the Prez to the law of the land. He was wanting to change it and the Government, (Congress and Supreme Court--supported by the military) said you cannot change the constitution. So in reality, it was the despot that was not obeying Romans 13.

It's kinda what we have going on right now in our own beloved country here. We have a despot wanna be(I know, he denies it every step he takes while moving in the direction he says he isn't going) and if things continue the same path in our country, our only problem is our Congress is so watered down by now that they would not be able to hold him to the constitution. But the days ahead will prove to be an eye opener for the people of the USA on many levels. I am very thankful that Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and a few other States are finally passing resolutions to remind Big Bro that we are Sovereign States. Our Nation may split but give me South of the Mason Dixon any day compared to the left coast and the North East. Though I must confess, this heat has been just a little oppressive for one who works in the open.

God bless you and the United States of America as we celebrate our Nation's Independence. May He grant us freedom from the powers of tyranny and may He grant us victory in sharing the Gospel.

Hey Luke, that's a good point. It does beg the question, what is the origin of legitimate authority, and when is it right for a leader to impose his will on the people? Nonetheless, that's a good point. And in that case, I agree with you, as I think a constitutional change would require majority support and not just the delusional goals of one ambitious person, even if he is the leader of the land. I also share your concerns with our own government here and I wonder if we are headed down the dangerous and dark road of authoritarianism?
